Herzog & de Meuron’s Dominus Winery was completed in 1997. A winery made from gabions of various sizes, sourced locally. The rocks provide insulation against the extreme temperatures of the Napa Valley. Although minimal it does not lack impact. The natural light floods in and the building, and the building blends into the land, making the most of the surrounding nature.
There is no better place than the Dominus Winery in Napa Valley to cool down and enjoy the landscape.

Vines in California can grow to a height well over 2m / 6ft, such that the building is completely integrated into the linear, geometric texture of the vineyard
